The Savoy, Lincoln UK - Also known as The Cannon and ABC.

The Savoy was opened in 1936 , on the site of a number of houses, a printing works and a bottle factory. The first performance was “A tale of two Cities” and it played to a near capacity audience of 2000.
The building became the ABC in 1961 and played host to many top name entertainers including The Beatles, Joe Brown, Billy Fury, Gerry and the Pacemakers and The Hollies.
The building was closed in 1972 for extensive alterations, and reopened three months later as a 549 seat cinema, with Bingo in the former stalls area. It underwent another facelift in 1983 , and a change of ownership in 1986, when it became the property of the Cannon Group. In 1988 a contract was signed between the Cannon Group and Pembroke Developments and the Cinemas fate was sealed. The Cinema was demolished  was demolished a few years later to make way for yet another shopping centre.
